What is V.E.R.A.?
The Victory in Europe Reenactment Association (V.E.R.A.) is one of the most well established World War II ‘Living History’ groups in the U.K. at the present time. The Victory in Europe Reenactment Association take part in Military shows, public, special events and acts of commemoration and remembrance at various locations throughout the country. Members, recreate the 1939-1945 period by dressing and portraying ‘troops’ of the Allied forces and mounting displays along with weapons and equipment to provide the visitor with an interesting and entertaining spectacle.

V.E.R.A. constantly achieve high acclaim in the field of World War II collecting, re-enacting and living history for the enthusiasm of its members and its professional approach to providing educational and entertaining presentations and displays. The Victory in Europe Reenactment Association (V.E.R.A.) is a member of NAReS, The National Association of Reenactment Societies.


Who are V.E.R.A. members?

V.E.R.A. members come from all walks of life but share a common interest in the World War II era. Whether a collector of uniforms and equipment, a wargamer, historian, military modeller, military vehicle enthusiast or someone who is just interested in experiencing a taste of the military ‘life’ 1940’s style.

 

What is Living History?
Living history is an attempt to recreate the past and bring into the present. To inform and educate the public in an entertaining way, bringing history to life. V.E.R.A. members dress in the correct uniforms, act in a military manner, perform drill, attend lectures presented by N.C.O’s and perform camp duties as if they were a ‘real’ 1940’s soldier.


What is Battle Re-enactment?

A Battle Re-enactment is a spectacle of sight and sound. Using legally held weapons and pyrotechnics V.E.R.A. perform a carefully and safely choreographed ‘battle’ between Allied and Axis forces for the entertainment of the public. The battles often include military vehicles and are intended to provide the viewer with an insight into World War II battle tactics and infantry warfare.
